About CD4+ T Cells
Our CD4+ T cells are purified from PBMC using negative immunomagnetic selection. CD4+ T cells make up two-thirds of the T cells in peripheral blood. While they were originally considered helper T cells, we now know that there are subsets within the CD4+ population with distinct functions:
Antigen-specific CD4+ T cells are polyclonal T cell lines derived by repeated activation with antigen-presenting cells and peptide antigen. We verify the response of the T cells to the peptide antigen of interest and determine the HLA Class II allele responsible for presenting the antigen to the T cells. These T cells can be used in assays on the day they are thawed for ease of use in your experiments.
Naïve CD4+ T cells are those cells that have not encountered their cognate antigen and do not have a defined function. They are shown to express CD45RA, as expected in this T cell population.
Memory CD4+ T cells are those cells that have engaged with a peptide antigen bound to an MHC class II molecule. They have a particular function such as follicular helper cells, Th1 providing cytokines for cytotoxic T cells, or Th2 supporting differentiation of B cells.
Total CD4+ T cells contain both naïve and memory T cells and are ideal for mixed lymphocyte cultures or any assay measuring the response to an exogenous antigen.
We have CD4+ T cells from a variety of donors. All donors are HLA typed and tested negative for blood-borne pathogens.
