About Platelets
Platelets are cell fragments derived from megakaryocytes in the bone marrow and are not considered true cells because they have no nucleus. Despite the lack of nucleus, platelets are very active as they will respond to exogenous thrombin by sticking to each other to form a plug.
Platelets also contain a number of growth factors. We have tested for the presence of ATP to ensure these “cells” are viable.
